El rumor se hizo realidad: Facebook ha lanzado su servicio de geologalicación al que ha bautizado como ‘Facebook Places’. Así lo anuncia la compañía en su blog oficial. De momento, sólo estará disponible en EEUU.
Tal y como hace Foursquare, el nuevo ‘Facebook Places’ permite a sus usuarios hacer ‘check-in’ desde el móvil en el lugar en el que se encuentren para así compartirlo con sus contactos en la red social.
Para poder beneficiarse de este servicio lo usuarios deben disponer de la última aplicación de Facebook para iPhone. Además, también pueden acceder a ‘Places’ desde ‘touch.facebook.com’, siempre que su navegador móvil sea compatible con HTML5 y con geolocalización.
El funcionamiento es simple: basta con acceder a ‘Places’ desde iPhone o ‘touch.facebook.com’ y ‘clickar’ en el botón ‘Check In’. Tras esto, el usuario verá una lista de lugares cercanos entre los que podrá elegir el que corresponda a su ubicación actual. Si ésta no está en la lista, puede buscarla o, incluso, añadirla.
Después de registrarse, el ‘check-in’ creará un historial en el servicio de ‘Feeds’ de sus contactos Noticias, además, también aparecerá entre la actividad reciente de la página del lugar en cuestión.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
