Los proveedores de servicios telefónicos móviles buscan retener a medio millón de usuarios atemorizados por el enfrentamiento de BlackBerry con los reguladores de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, ofreciéndoles cambiarse a iPhone de Apple u otros teléfonos.
EAU dijo el domingo que planeaba suspender los servicios de correo electrónico, navegación en línea y mensajería de BlackBerry a partir del 11 de octubre, a menos que el fabricante, Research In Motion , le permita acceder a mensajes encriptados.
El martes, el proveedor de servicios Emirates Telecommunications Corp (Etisalat), que es parcialmente de propiedad estatal, comenzó a ofrecer teléfonos gratuitos y descuentos en paquetes de servicios para incentivar a los usuarios a cambiarse.
