A pesar de la decisión de Steve Jobs de no invitar al portal Gizmodo a la conferencia de desarrolladores anual de Apple, la web ha seguido adelante con su cobertura y a través de los comentarios de otros medios ha cubierto la presentación oficial de iPhone 4. “Era tal y como esperábamos” escribían irónicamente en sus conclusiones.
Todo empezó el pasado mes de abril cuando un trabajador de Apple olvidó un prototipo del ahora anunciado iPhone 4 en una cervecería alemana de California. El portal especializado Gizmodo adquirió ese prototipo y publicó imágenes e impresiones del nuevo terminal lo cual no gustó en Cupertino y en especial a Steve Jobs.
A partir de ahí: peticiones de devolución, investigaciones policiales, registros en la casa de un editor del portal y, finalmente, el veto a la conferencia de desarrolladores de Apple. Gizmodo declaró que “no le importaba” y que seguirían haciendo su trabajo a través de los comentarios en directo de otros medios e internautas.
Gracias a las retransmisiones de gdgt, Ars Technica, Ubergizmo, Mac Rumors, Wired, Technologizer, NYT, Mac Life, y Apple Insider el portal consiguió cubrir la ‘keynote’ de Jobs y preparar una serie de artículos al respecto, como el resto de medios.
Los artículos versan sobre las novedades del teléfono, las implicaciones para la nueva generación de iPad, un fallo en la presentación por “problemas de conexión”, comparación con HTC EVO, diverso material multimedia de otros medios anteriormente citados y finalmente, un texto sobre cómo afectará iPhone 4 a la vida sexual del usuario.
Conocida es la opinión de Jobs sobre los contenidos para adultos en los productos de su compañía. Al margen de vetar cualquier contenido sexual para mayores de 18 años en su tienda de aplicaciones el propio CEO de Apple declaró hace unas semanas que quien quisiese pornografía que “optara por Android”.
Así, Gizmodo, a través de los comentarios del director del centro de salud sexual de la Universidad de Indiana, el doctor Debby Herbenick, analiza cómo afectará desde la antena hasta la videocámara a los usuarios que decidan adquirir el nuevo terminal de Apple.
Entre otras posibilidades Debby Herbenick apunta a que la nueva cámara que permite videoconferencia en el teléfono debería permitir sexo telefónico “tanto para parejas como para grupos”.
