El CEO de Apple, Steve Jobs, inició este lunes la conferencia WWDC 2010 destcando como viene siendo habitual algunas cifras de la compañía y, en esta ocasión, el ritmo de ventas del iPad ha sido el dato más relevante: la compañía vende un dispositivo cada tres segundos.
Durante su intervención, Jobs recordó que la cifra total de ventas del iPad, que estará en 19 países en este mes de junio, alcanza los 2 millones. En total, la App Store cuenta ya con 8.500 aplicaciones ‘nativas’ para este dispositivo y ha registrado 35 millones de descargas –17 aplicaciones por iPad–.
Respecto a los iBooks, destacó que la empresa ya ha registrado cerca de 5 millones de descargas, lo que supone el 22% de la cuota de mercado, según datos de editores.
Jobs también abordó la ‘salud’ de la App Store que, según sus cifras, recibe 15.000 envíos por semana en 30 idiomas distinto –un 95% de las aplicaciones son aprobadas–. Los motivo argumentados por Jobs para rechazar las propuestas de usuarios son bien un “mal funcionamiento”, bien el uso de APIs propietarias o bien que “simplemente no funcionan”
