Apple cuestiona un informe que afirma que los móviles Android han superado en ventas al iPhone
Apple ha cuestionado el informe del pasado martes que indicaba que los teléfonos inteligentes que usan el sistema operativo Android de Google superaron las ventas del iPhone en Estados Unidos, ya que entiende que “no hay señales” de que la competencia esté aumentando en este mercado.
Los teléfonos inteligentes que usan el software de Google Android representaron el 28 por ciento de las ventas unitarias en Estados Unidos en el primer trimestre, por encima del 21 por ciento de Apple, según NPD.
Research in Motion Ltd fue el primero con el 36 por ciento, según esta misma consultora.
No obstante, Apple señaló que los datos de NPD no dan un panorama completo. “Es un informe muy limitado sobre 150.000 consumidores estadounidenses respondiendo a un sondeo por Internet y no representa a los más de 85 millones de clientes del iPhone y el iPod en todo el mundo“, dijo la portavoz de Apple, Natalie Harrison.
En este sentido, explicó que el iPhone vendió más que el Android sobre una base mundial, y destacó otro análisis de la semana pasada de IDC que mostraba al iPhone con una participación de mercado mundial del 16,1 por ciento, detrás del número dos del mundo RIM y del primero Nokia.
“Tuvimos un trimestre récord con un crecimiento de las ventas del iPhone del 131 por ciento, y con nuestro nuevo software iPhone OS 4.0 que lanzaremos este verano, no vemos señales de que nos vaya a alcanzar la competencia en algún momento en el corto plazo”, dijo Harrison.
Apple vendió más de 51 millones de iPhones desde que comenzó a vender el dispositivo en el 2007.

El crecimiento de Android es un hecho evidente en el mercado aunque le pese a Apple. Firmas como LG, Samsung, Motorola y por supuesto HTC ofrecen distintos terminales bajo este sistema operativo que llegan al consumidor de la mano de los operadores.
Analistas e investigadores del mercado dan por hecho de que el 2010 este sistema operativo se convertirá en uno de los más presentes en el mercado.
Apple no debería considerar este avance de Google como una amenaza en si misma. Mientras que los compradores de iPhone adquieren conscientemente este equipo, muchos de los que se hacen con un Android no tienen ni idea de que ese Samsung o LG funciona bajo ese sistema operativo. Son dos conceptos muy distintos.
Además gran parte de la fortaleza del iPhone parte de su compatibilidad con el iPod Touch y del iPad lo que le convierte en uno de los sistemas operativos más extendidos y con mayor número de aplicaciones.
Sin embargo, Android se enfrenta a problemas de compatibilidad que aumenta conforme crece el número de fabricantes le dan soporte. Las distintas versiones del sistema operativo que se dan en los móviles, la existencia de aplicaciones que no funcionan con algunas de estas y la personalización que otros han puesto en marcha perjudican seriamente al consumidor que se encuentra con un maremágnum algo complicado a la hora de actualizar su móvil.
Que Android supere en ventas al iPhone OS no supone, finalmente, que Apple pierda esa plaza lograda en el Top Ten de los fabricantes sencillamente por qué las ventas de terminales basados en el sistema operativo impulsado por Google se distribuye entre distintas marcas, algunas de las cuales ocupan ya la segunda y tercera posición del mercado.
