iAd, la nueva plataforma de publicidad móvil de Apple, combina la emoción de la publicidad de TV con la interactividad de los anuncios web.
En la actualidad, cuando los usuarios hacen clic en anuncios de publicidad en móviles son casi siempre expulsados de su app y trasladados a un navegador web, en el que se carga la página de publicidad del anunciante.
Los usuarios se ven obligados a navegar de vuelta para regresar a su app, y a menudo es difícil o imposible volver al punto exacto en el que la abandonaron.
iAd resuelve este problema visualizando vídeo a pantalla completa y contenido publicitario interactivo sin abandonar jamás la app, y permitiendo a los usuarios regresar a su app en el momento que lo decidan. iPhone OS 4 permite a los desarrolladores embeber fácilmente publicidad de iAd en sus apps, y los anuncios serán enviados a los dispositivos de manera dinámica e inalámbrica.
Apple venderá y servirá la publicidad, y los desarrolladores recibirán el porcentaje estándar habitual en la industria del 60 por ciento de los ingresos obtenidos por iAd.
