Adobe permitirá crear aplicaciones para el iPhone de Apple mediante la plataforma Flash. Esta nueva capacidad para los diseñadores y desarrolladores que utilizan Flash dará la posibilidad de orientar proyectos desarrollados bajo ActionScript 3 hacia iPhone. Esta capacidad está todavía en fase desarrollo pero será incluido en el nuevo paquete Adobe Flash Professional CS5.
Tras evaluar los términos de propiedad del ‘software’, los acuerdos, y el contenido qué Apple considera admisible en la AppStore, Adobe ha decidido que “la mejor opción” era proporcionar a la comunidad de desarrolladores un compilador para ayudar a convertir los paquetes de contenido SWF en una aplicación de iPhone nativa.
Adobe ha conseguido habilitar esta opción utilizando la infraestructura ‘Low Level Virtual Machine’ (LLVM). LLVM es un sistema flexible de compilación modular que se utiliza en gran variedad de proyectos. Los autores de Flash apuntan que la flexibilidad y la aplicabilidad a iPhone es “la razón clave” para elegirlo.
La nueva característica permitirá a los desarrolladores crear aplicaciones Flash utilizando sus habilidades y conocimientos de ActionScript 3 y más tarde convertirlo de manera que se genere una aplicación para iPhone nativa. Los desarrolladores tendrán acceso a casi todas las API de AIR 2.0 y Flash Player 10.1. Por ejemplo, puede utilizar API como RTMP, Remote Shared Objects, y AMF así como API de AIR como SQLite y acceso a los archivos del sistema.
CÓMO CREAR APLICACIONES PARA IPHONE
En primer lugar, se crea una aplicación en el escritorio que se ajuste al tamaño de la pantalla del iPhone. La pantalla del iPhone (al igual que muchos ‘smartphones’) es de 320 * 480. Adobe destaca, como último paso, medir el rendimiento de la aplicación. “Iphone no es un ordenador de sobremesa. Tiene elementos de ‘hardware’ muy potentes y sofisticados, pero hay que tener en cuenta la amplia gama de capacidades que hay entre las distintas generaciones del dispositivo, la cantidad de memoria disponible y la cantidad de recursos necesarios para disponibles.

Adobe anunció hace unas semanas una nueva versión de su reproductor Flash para que fuese compatible con todos los teléfonos móviles para universalizar la reproducción de vídeos en estos terminales. Una medida esperada teniendo en cuenta que el 90 por ciento de las piezas en Internet se reproducen mediante Flash Player. Sin embargo, junto a este anuncio se confirmó que la nueva versión, también pensada para ordenadores, no sería compatible con uno de los teléfonos inteligentes más populares del mercado: iPhone -ni su “hermano” iPod Touch-.
“Apple restringe el uso de tecnologías requeridas por productos como Flash Player. Hasta que Apple elimine estas restricciones, Adobe no puede ofrecer Flash Player para el iPhone o iPod Touch”, reza el mensaje del ‘smartphone’ de Apple cuando se intenta ejecutar una aplicación bajo Flash. Con esta nueva medida, y sin respuesta oficial por parte de Apple, Adobe ha conseguido, por el momento, introducir aplicaciones Flash en la AppStore.
