Apple supera los 3.000 millones de descargas en App Store

Apple ha anunciado este martes que los usuarios de iPhone e iPod touch de todo el mundo han descargado ya más de 3.000 millones de aplicaciones de App Store. “Tres mil millones de aplicaciones descargadas en menos de 18 meses: nunca antes habíamos visto nada parecido,” dijo Steve Jobs, consejero delegado de Apple.

“Ofrecemos una experiencia diferente a cualquier cosa disponible para otros dispositivos móviles y no vemos indicios de que los competidores vayan a alcanzar pronto ese nivel“, resaltó. Los clientes de iPhone e iPod touch de 77 países de todo mundo pueden elegir entre una variedad de aplicaciones en 20 categorías, incluyendo juegos, economía y empresa, noticias, deportes, salud, referencia y viajes.

Apple inició su apuesta por el ordenador personal en la década de los setenta con el Apple II y reincidió en la década de los ochenta con el Macintosh. A día de hoy, Apple ofrece el sistema operativo OS X, iLife y sus aplicaciones profesionales.
