Prácticamente desde que salió este modelo a la venta existan programas que ayudan a ‘liberar’ este terminal en un proceso conocido como ‘jailbreak’. No se trata de hacer que funcionen con cualquier compañía sino que permite la instalación en el teléfono de ‘homebrew’ (software casero).
Al igual que ocurre con otros dispositivos modificados, además de software gratuito, también es posible instalar aplicaciones de pago ‘pirateadas’ de forma fraudulenta. Y aquí es dónde la compañía de Steve Jobs lucha día y noche.
Y es que a diferencia del mercado informático donde apenas existen “hackers” que destripen el sistema, en el caso de los iPhones se enfrenta no solo a desarrolladores indepencientes sino también a multitud de tienas que liberan sus terminales. Aunque en su primer momento, contemplo el fenómeno con curiosidad la popularidad que alcanzó esta actividad ha llevado a Apple a tomar medidas resolutivas para atajarlo.
Y es que una de las ventajas que ofrecen algunas de estas aplicaciones “piratas” es que el usuario pueda instalar cualquier aplicación en su móvil sin pasar por la App Store, la tienda oficial de la compañía.
La página web TechCrunch se ha hecho eco de informaciones de usuarios que han adquirido recientemente un iPhone y al parecer Apple ha conseguido cerrar las puertas a ciertas vulnerabilidades, en este caso, el programa llamado ’24kPwn’, muy utilizado para estos casos.
La guerra, sin embargo, no ha terminado y es bien sabido en este mundillo que cada nueva protección crea inevitablemente como consecuencia que algunos usuarios intenten pasar a través de ella. Esto solo ha sido un ’round’ más del combate.
