Tras casi un mes de espera desde que el pasado julio Spotify solicitara a Apple permitir una aplicación de este servicio de música para el iPhone en la AppStore, la compañía liderada por Steve Jobs ha dado el ‘sí quiero’.
La decisión ha sorprendido al mundo digital por el cambio de criterio de la empresa que, hasta ahora, había denegado programas similares a Spotify como Last.fm, Slacker o Pandora, por considerarlos competidores de iTunes.
“No estamos sorprendidos, pero estamos emocionados“, ha asegurado Daniel Ek, fundador de Spotify, tras explicar que han dialogado con Apple “muy bien desde el primer día”.
Aunque la aplicación de Spotify para iPhone será gratuíta, para su utilización será necesaria una suscripción premium que costará unos once euros mensuales y permitirá a sus usuarios almacenar temporalmente en sus teléfonos listas de reproducció de música para escucharlas sin necesitar de estar conectados a Internet.
“La respuesta ha sido tremenda, incluso antes de que la aplicación estuviera disponible”, ha reconocido el fundador de Spotify, quien espera que aumenten considerablemente las suscripciones premium con esta nueva aplicación.
