La última versión del popular iPhone de Apple, que ve la luz en Japón una semana después que en Europa y Estados Unidos y cuya principal novedad es una mayor velocidad, se enfrentará además al reto de la caligrafía japonesa.
Muchos japoneses se mostraron desencantados al conocer la primera generación de iPhone porque ralentizaba su escritura frente a los móviles nipones, que permiten identificar el ideograma mucho más rápido gracias a las teclas tradicionales.
En esta ocasión, el debut del nuevo iPhone sirve para poner a prueba si la velocidad de éste vence las fronteras del lenguaje, algo que al parecer no consiguió su predecesor, dos veces más lento que el nuevo.
Yasuhiro Oki, responsable de uno de los mayores centros de electrónica de Tokio, “Bic Camera“, que abrió hoy sus puertas a las 7 de la mañana, tres horas antes de lo habitual, aseguró a Efe que, de momento, la venta “va muy bien” y que “una veintena de personas” esperaban a la apertura.
COMPRADORES MADRUGADORES
Esta vez la expectación por el dispositivo portátil de Apple, éxito en todo el mundo con casi un millón de unidades vendidas en cuatro días, no ha hecho madrugar a las multitudes de japoneses como la primera vez, debido a que los innovadores móviles nipones no le van a la zaga.
Aunque Apple y Softbank, firma que comercializa el iPhone en Japón, no han desvelado el número de unidades vendidas del anterior modelo, diversos observadores indicaron a la prensa japonesa que aquel “no ha cosechado las ventas esperadas”.
Algunos también ahora ven dificultades para abrirse hueco en el mercado nipón, como Hiroshi Sakai, analista del centro de investigación SMBC, para el que el nuevo iPhone “probablemente no despertará una demanda explosiva”, según aseguró al diario Japan Times.
En opinión de Oki, “el mercado de móviles no es grande, pero salen los nuevos modelos más rápido que en el caso de otros productos y países“, capaces de competir con el iPhone en número de aplicaciones y precio entre 11.520 yenes y 23.040 yenes (85 y 171 euros).
Las estanterías de las tiendas ofrecen un centenar de aparatos diferentes que, cada cuatro meses, deben renovarse para dejar paso a los nuevos modelos y alimentar el apetito de los japoneses por la tecnología más innovadora del momento.
POSIBLES COMPETIDORES
En Japón, el nuevo iPhone, por el que se inclinan los consumidores de entre 25 y 40 años, tendrá que competir con el catálogo de verano de los operadores, que ofertan desde un teléfono que graba vídeos en alta definición a aquellos que sirven como pequeños libros electrónicos.
El móvil 933SH y el SH002, ambos del fabricante japonés Sharp, son otros de los nuevos desafíos para sus competidores, ya que el primero cuenta con una cámara fotográfica de 10 megapixel y el segundo puede recargarse tras varios minutos al sol.
El “keitai”, como se denomina en japonés al teléfono móvil, funciona desde hace tiempo en el país asiático no sólo como dispositivo de comunicación, sino también como proveedor de información para el usuario por la posibilidad de conexión rápida a Internet, de seguir la programación televisiva o usar GPS.
Además, la industria del entretenimiento ha conseguido grandes logros, dado la cantidad de usuarios que pagan por leer historias de manga (cómic japonés) desde su móvil o por ver películas, para disfrutar de una cena o acceder a descuentos con una simple pasada del teléfono.
Por otra parte, el amplio escaparate de ornamentos para el móvil, como animaciones de Disney, colgantes o brillantes, demuestra el apego de los japoneses a este artilugio, que sirve para matar el aburrimiento durante los largos trayectos en metro.
