Greg Joswiak, vicepresidente de marketing para las líneas de iPhone e iPod, reveló la cifra.
Aunque la cantidad anticipada por el ejecutivo está muy lejos de las millonarias cantidades que suministran los grandes de la industria como Nokia, Samsung, LG o Sony Ericsson… representan una cifra muy importante debido al segmento al que van dirigidos, los smartphones.
Joswiak, dijo que en el 2008 se vendieron 13,7 millones de terminales, muy por encima de las previsiones que barajaba la compañía de 10 millones, y que sumados a los iPod Touch ya son unos 30 millones de terminales los que operan bajo el sistema operativo iPhone.
En cuanto al programa de desarrolladores suma unos 50.000 integrantes y las aplicaciones que pueden descargarse a través de la App Store son 25.000. El ejecutivo también reveló que los usuarios han descargo 800.000 aplicaciones y juegos de la tienda online.
