Apple presentó la anterior versión del software, el 2.0, el pasado verano, casi coincidiendo con el lanzamiento del iPhone 3.G, que se convirtió de inmediato en un éxito de ventas, con 11 millones de unidades colocadas en los seis meses posteriores a su salida al mercado.
El grupo tecnológico Apple ha anunciado que el próximo 17 de marzo presentará públicamente el nuevo software del iPhone, lo que ha desatado especulaciones sobre la posibilidad del lanzamiento de nuevos productos.
En una invitación enviada a la prensa, el grupo anuncia, sin muchos detalles, que el evento que se celebrará en su sede de Cupertino, en California, servirá para echar una “ojeada” al software 3.0 del iPhone.
El iPhone se ha convertido, junto a los iPod, en el producto estrella de Apple, y en uno de sus principales factores de crecimiento.
Sólo en 2008, vendió casi 14 millones de unidades, por encima de su objetivo, que era de 10 millones.
APLICACIONES INDEPENDIENTES
Parte de este éxito se debe a las aplicaciones que los programadores independientes han creado para el iPhone, y que se venden en la tienda App de iTunes.
De hecho, en la presentación del martes, Apple aprovechará para dar a conocer a los programadores las novedades del nuevo software.
No obstante, la invitación enviada por la empresa californiana ha desatado en los foros de internet especulaciones sobre la posibilidad de la presentación de nuevos productos.
POSIBLES CAMBIOS EN EL DISEÑO
Así, la revistaPC World se hace eco de la posibilidad de que Apple presente una actualización del aspecto externo del iPhone, más que una renovación de su sistema operativo.
En otro medios se apunta que la empresa podría presentar un netbook, un ordenador portátil de pequeño tamaño y bajo coste, algo que le han estado reclamando los expertos desde hace meses.
Apple lleva tiempo enfrentándose a las críticas de que sus computadores son muy caros, especialmente ahora que muchos competidores se han lanzado a la fabricación de netbooks, unos ordenadores muy austeros con conexión a internet y pocas prestaciones.
