Miles de usuarios de todo el mundo se encuentran desde el pasado lunes con un maravilloso terminal que no funciona.
El motivo, Apple liberó ese día una actualización del sistema del dispositivo (la 1.1.1) que inutiliza aquellos terminales que han sido hackeados por consumidores para operar en redes distintas a la AT&T estadounidense.
Los problemas no solo han aparecido en los EEUU sino también en otros países. Los estadounidenses lo tienen fácil, siempre pueden darse de alta en AT&T. Más difícil lo tienen aquellos usuarios de otros países, como el Reino Unido, Alemania o Taiwán en el que se han vendido un buen número de terminales.
Tom Ferris, un especialista en seguridad informática, reportó que una vez actualizado el dispositivo no reconocía la tarjeta SIM del móvil.
Explicó que es casi imposible evitar que el iPhone se actualice, lo que dejará a miles de usuarios sin móvil.
Los consumidores “legales” (es decir aquellos que tienen dado de alta su móvil en AT&T) también expresaron su malestar por que la actualización desactiva aquellas aplicaciones que no han sido desarrolladas por Apple o que no venían de serie con el iPhone.
Por lo que parece, los parches de seguridad que incorpora la actualización bloquean estas aplicaciones al no reconocerlas.
¿Hasta qué punto tiene derecho el fabricante sobre el objecto que compra el cliente? ¿Si compráramos un coche y por ponerle gasolina en una estación de servicio distinta a la que nos dice el fabricante, dejara de funcionar, no le lloverían protestas? ¿Por qué esta manía de controlar completamente al cliente, cuando es el cliente el que desembolsa el dinero? Más aún cuando las limitaciones no son físicas sino virtuales: el iPhone puede operar con cualquier red y ejecutar perfectamente programas de terceros. Pero para evitar que esos terceros se beneficien, limitan el terminal para que el cliente se vea obligado a desembolsar siempre con los mismos. ¿A esto no se le llama monopolio? ¿No se ha condenado a Microsoft por lo mismo?

No puedo estar más de acuerdo contigo. Además, esta gente de fuera de EEUU que ha pagado los iPhone a precio de oro, ahora van y les hacen esto, ni que los hubieran robado o algo por el estilo. Me fastidia mucho que me digan cómo debo o no debo usar un “gadget” que yo mismo he comprado.
Afortunadamente (o eso espero) los hackers no tardarán en sacar “algo” para volver a usar otras compañías, y software de terceros.
Ojo, la información es abiertamente inexacta. Los iPhone hackeados funcionan perfectamente, siempre que no se actualicen al nuevo software, lo cual se consigue contestando NO a la pregunta “¿desea actualizar el software de su iPhone?”. Basta darse una vuelta por cualquier foro de iphoneros y contrastarlo. Os aseguro que el mío funciona perfectamente con una SIM de Movistar.
Totalmente de acuerdo con los comentarios anteriores, aunque más que a un afán de moniopolio de Apple, el asunto se debe al pastón que les hacen soltar a las operadoras exclusivistas (una por país), lo que les obliga a mantener una postura oficial de defensa de la operadora.
En cualquier caso, no le doy ni una semana de continuidad a ese nuevo bloqueo. Hasta diría que los hackers la estaban esperando con una cierta ansia por aquello de superar un nuevo reto…
Hay una forma de evitar estos problemas y la desicion es no comprando productos que te limitan tandrasticmanete y esque no estoy de acuerdo con que no tenga la livertad de usar un producto por el que e pagado dela manera que mas me convenga es simplemente invasivo y no creo podertolerarlo nosotros tenemos la decicion de conpra al fin de cuentas estas conpañias deven trabajar para satisfacer a sus clientes ojo no podemos dejar que nos controlen, uno tiene la opcion de no comprar con esa clase de compañias que nos limitan tanto e invaden saludos y suerte

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
