El iPhone de Apple Inc. superó en ventas al resto de teléfonos inteligentes en Estados Unidos, contabilizando un 1,8 por ciento del total de las entregas de celulares en julio, su primer mes completo de despachos, dijo el martes el grupo de investigación iSuppli.
iSuppli reiteró su pronóstico de que Apple venderá 4,5 millones de iPhones este año, llegando a más de 30 millones en el 2011.
Los dos modelos del iPhone en el mercado vendieron más que cualquier modelo de la serie “Blackberry” de Research in Motion, la serie completa de Palm y que cualquier modelo individual de Motorola, Nokia o Samsung, aunque no supero en ventas a toda la línea de terminales Blackberry.
Las ventas igualaron a aquellas del modelo Chocolate de LG Electronics, el teléfono más popular del mercado estadounidense, dijo iSuppli.
iSuppli clasifica al iPhone como un teléfono compuesto que compite tanto con los teléfonos inteligentes, que poseen aplicaciones de computadores personales, como el correo electrónico, como con los teléfonos multifunciones, que poseen aplicaciones extras como cámaras fotográficas y reproductores de música.
“Mientras que iSuppli no junte información histórica sobre este tema, es posible que el ritmo del aumento del iPhone en este segmento no tenga precedentes en la historia de los teléfonos celulares,” dijo iSuppli.
“Apple logró esto frente a varios competidores afianzados,” agregó.
La mayoría de los clientes del iPhone en Estados Unidos en julio son hombres, menores de 35 años y con un título universitario.
Un tercio de los que compraron un iPhone se cambiaron al operador AT&T, que tiene un acuerdo de servicio exclusivo para el teléfono en Estados Unidos.
El iPhone será vendido en Europa más tarde este año.
iSuppli reunió la información en una encuesta a consumidores a 2 millones de participantes en Estados Unidos, que realiza en la internet una vez al mes.
