Un joven estadounidense de solo 17 años confirmó hoy que logró liberar el iPhone para que funcione con diferentes operadores de telefonía móvil, incluyendo compañías no estadounidenses.
Agencias – Georg Hotz, un adolescente del estado de Nueva Jersey, muestra en su blog de internet un iPhone que opera con la empresa T-Mobile y no con el grupo de telecomunicaciones AT&T, con el que Apple tiene un contrato en exclusiva en EE.UU.
Hotz hizo públicos los detalles del proceso, lo que permitirá a terceros comprar teléfonos iPhone, liberarlos y venderlos fuera de EE.UU. antes de que Apple comience a vender su popular teléfono móvil en otros países.
Fuentes de AT&T declinaron hacer declaraciones al respecto. Apple, por su parte, no respondió a las llamadas de Efe.
Hotz dijo a los medios de comunicación estadounidenses que el proceso para liberar el iPhone es extremadamente complejo y requiere modificaciones tanto de hardware como de software. Añadió que a él le llevó unas 500 horas conseguirlo y que contó con la ayuda de cuatro colaboradores.
El estudiante puso a la venta el teléfono liberado en el portal de internet eBay por 2.000 dólares, cuatro veces más que su precio en las tiendas.
También en Brasil, algunos blogs muestran iPhones liberados funcionando con Vivo. Incluso han escrito dos tutoriales ( tutorial 1 y 2) para explicar dos sistemas para hackear el iphone. Los autores no recomiendan que esta acción sea realizada para gente sin conocimiento técnicos
